Commissions for 2010

The Sociedad Estatal de Conmemoraciones Culturales has commisioned composer Jesús Torres a major work to commemorate the centenary of the birth of the spanish poet Miguel Hernández (1910-1942). The work - Evocación de Miguel Hernández - will be compose for sopran soloist, choir and orchestra. Also, the Program for Cultural Cooperation, that includes several North Americans universities, has just commissioned to write a new work for the guitarist Adam Levin

25th Anniversary of the Death of Poet Vicente Aleixandre

Itinerant exposition in commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of the death of poet  Vicente Aleixandre. The exposition begins in Sevilla and this will travel any of the places more important in the life of the poet like las Navas del Marqués, Miraflores de la Sierra, Madrid, Málaga and Sitges. With motive of this exposition has been published a Catalogue with pictures, poems and music scores  about poems by Aleixandre. Between the musical example appear two of the numerous  works composed by Jesús Torres with poems by Aleixandre: Unidad en ella and  Cobra. At the moment the exposition is in Madrid, Museo de la ciudad, until December 8th

First monograph CD of orchestral works by Jesús Torres published by  Sello Tritó. The works are: Sinfonía, Movimiento and Partita. The performers are:  the RTVE Symphony Orchestra, the Cadaqués Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Spain, conducted by Adrian Leaper, Gianandrea Noseda and Josep Caballé. This recording is also available in the art periodical Revista Sibila, nº 28 in a monograph dedicated to the composer, with articles by José Luis Téllez, Juan Carlos Garvayo and Alberto González Lapuente and a poem by Alejandro Duque Amusco
